摘要：Immunotoxicology is the study of immune dysfunction resulting from exposure of an organism toa xenobiotic. Immunotoxicology is relatively new interdisciplinary scientific field focused on identification andanalysis of chemical and, in a broader sense, also physical and biological factors of the environment which can causeunwanted and usually incidental immunomodulations. The immune dysfunction may take the form ofimmunosuppression, allergy, autoimmunity and inflammatory-based diseases. Immune System plays a critical role inhost resistance to disease as well as in normal homeostasis of an organism; identification of immunotoxic risk issignificant in the protection of human, animal and wildlife health. In addition, immunotoxicology also investigates theproperties of new immunotherapeutic pharmacological products prepared via recombinant DNA techniques(interleukins, interferons, growth factors, anti-inflammation drugs, neuroendocrine hormones, neuropeptides) withregard to their immunotoxic potential and safety of their use.
